Tuesday in a flash, we decided to drive past at old town looking for delicious and famous cuisine in Kampar.
We drove past in old town numerous times and decided to dine at a historic restaurant at Jalan Idris which near by the Hotel Fully Well. People were waiting in a long queue when we reached there.
*Chan Siew Heng Claypot Chicken Rice Shop
Therefore, being foodies made us cannot resist the delicious-looking clay-pot chicken rice, we decided to dine there.
* He is the grandson of Chan Siew Heng-“吳志強”.
All his family is work in this restaurant.
*our chicken flavor..

The charcoal cooking style differentiates from other modern cooking style.
What mattered most is the traditional cooking style of Chan Siew Heng to cook the yummy dishes, original taste of clay-pot chicken rice had attracted many local and foreign customers.

This is a restaurant which already spanning over 50 years. The Chan Siew Heng Claypot Chicken Rice was cooked by using charcoal.
The charcoal cooking style differentiates from other modern cooking style.
What mattered most is the traditional cooking style of Chan Siew Heng to cook the yummy dishes, original taste of clay-pot chicken rice had attracted many local and foreign customers.
Other than that, this restaurant had been recommended by a local artist who name Ah Xian, and it's really attracted a lot of customers, especially traveler and also UTAR & KTAR's students.
* see how famous they're :D
The claypot rice with chicken and salted fish, nicely mixed with the sauce was really good.
The price for one big clay pot rice and a plate of vege were merely RM14.00!
1) All chicken skins has been removed - healthier
2) The sauce combination was good - no need to add any additional sauces.
So, what are you waiting for? come & have a try !!!

Story Time:
''Actually, in Guangzhou and Hong Kong clay-pot has many flavors.
Malaysia clay-pot was developed from one types of most famous one which call“腊味滑鸡砂煲饭”. So that, we could imagine that when the Chinese ancestors come to Malaysia, although the material conditions is not good they are still trying to eat the clay-pot to keep their memories of their home town.''

Here's the Map :
Second day, while taking the detour, we decide to have our lunch at Yau Kee Chicken Bun Bread which is one of Kampar signature dish.
It’s at Jalan Pasar which near with the Jalan Idlis we mention above. Just make a few turns and you will not miss this large, corner restaurant.
Yau Kee is a restaurant which serves halal-food plus the buns. We had the opportunity to experience the bun making process.
[ You will see a man folding some wax paper & pour a large bowl of curry chicken with potatoes, wrap it,cover the paper package with bread dough & form it into a nice bun. ]
:)
Story Time:
''Yau Hon Seng who is owner of YauKee, he got the idea of stuffed curry bread when he, as a tourist in 1986, observed how Beggar's Bread was made in Hongkong.
"If the conventional one is made using clay, it would work as well using bread", he thought.''
''Well, legend of curry chicken bun is that during the Qing dynasty, at the foot of Yusan Mountain in Changshu, a beggar caught a chicken but had nothing to cook the bird. He packed the chicken using lotus leaves, sealed the chicken with mud, and then baked it in a furnace he constructed. After the beggar had removed the mud when the chicken was cooked, the fragrant was distinct. The method of cooking soon spread all over the China.''
Back to Here, :3
The business in this restaurant is brisk and it’s like all hot-selling items outlets.
We can feel the old-timers like still running at the place when we lunch there. There is a separate section of the restaurant loaded with confectioneries on sale, both freshly baked & pre-packed one.
The price:
RM22 - small bun which can serve 2 or 3 persons
&
RM39 - huge bun that can serve for 4 to 5 persons.
Well, inside the bun, the curry is fantastic because it’s not very hot and suitable for kids, it doesn’t has overpowering smell of spices.
It's extra tasty after the soft bread dipped into the curry. The curry is not too hot but when its come to your mouth, the fragrant of the curry dissolve into your taste bud and your mouth will be full of that taste. Wuaaaahhhh... :D
* BE VERY CAREFUL not to tear the paper, because if you do, the curry will leak and soak your bread and then everything becomes soggy. :3
We had eaten the bun while it is hot, and it really taste YUMMY!!
* YOU SHOULD HAVE A TRY !!!! C:

Besides the famous Laksa soup, Sago dessert is also popular among the customers. Apparently, it contains cendol, grass jelly, watermelon, honeydew and sago and mixing fresh coconut milk, brown sugar and white sugar.
It is actually not too sweet and it is very effective for thirst specifically during the hot weather and after enjoyed the hot laksa soup. It is selling RM1.20 per sago dessert only.

''She is Madam Wong Ah Lan, 75 years old. She was our interviewee and the woman in behind the business. Although it was just a very short and brief interview session, we get to know that she operated the stall for 11 years. It is a small home business. She loves her business and nowadays she was just watching it inside her house as she is helped by her daughter and daughter in law. Interestingly, her daughter in law is a Thai and able to speak Chinese and Cantonese fluently. It was a very pleasant interview session and the picture is taken happily between us.''
